Fighting Poverty with Facts

The IDRC, a reliable source of practice-oriented development research, has published the results of its decade-long research in 15 countries of Africa and Asia on community-based monitoring systems. The idea is to empower ordinary citizens, including those who tend to be excluded from public decison-making (women, illiterate people...), to provide sound evidence for poverty and development within their own communities, so as to enhance the effectiveness of development interventions and hold local authorities to account. A special web-site offers extensive information including the book "Fighting Poverty with Facts" by Celia Reyes and Evan Due; everything is available in French and Spanish as well.
